Botticelli's painting "The Man of Sorrows" went under the hammer for 45,4 million USD

The work of Sandro Botticelli "The Man of Sorrows" was sold at Sotheby's in New York for 45,4 million USD. Since 1963, the work has been in a private collection. The auction lasted only seven minutes. The name of the new owner of the painting has not been released.

It is noted, that this is not the highest price for a Renaissance work written in 1500. So, earlier another painting by Botticelli, "Young Man with a Roundel", was sold for 92,2 million USD, according to daily.afisha.ru.
