Dozens of projects will stimulate the development of the information technology market in Turkmenistan

State structures of Turkmenistan are initiating more number of projects to digitalize their activities. All interested parties, including private Turkmen IT companies, are invited to act as their performers.

In future, this trend will lead to a significant development of the information technology market in the country, enhancement of significance and demand for IT specialists. Digital transformation will act as a driver of the country’s socio-economic development. And all this is already happening.

Currently, the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, the State Customs Service, the Migration Service, the Ministries of Justice, Foreign Affairs, Finance and Economy, the Textile Industry, the State Commodity Exchange, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Turkmenbashi Oil Refineries Complex intend to purchase software for implementing various digital functions.

ORIENT has already written about many of the projects on digitalization of the state structures listed. The IT solutions developed for their needs are aimed at improving the comfort and efficiency of employees’ work by implementing various automated information systems. It should also affect the quality of public services and the number of online government services.

For example, the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan is implementing a project that will allow organizations to submit statistical reports via the Internet. To do this, a page “to submit a report” will appear on the official website of the department.

The new online function will reduce the time and improve the quality of the preparation of statistical bulletins of the State Statistics Committee, which are used to make important decisions in the government of the country.

The key organizer of international exhibitions and conferences in Turkmenistan the Chamber of Commerce and Industry will fully switch to the electronic document management system. This step will allow the organization to improve the procedures for interaction with foreign and national clients, and simplify the process of coordinating organizational issues during major forums.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan purchases software for the country’s consular services in order to digitalize the procedure for registering citizens for consular registration and simplify the witnessing of documents via the Internet.

Many useful projects on digitalization have already been implemented by some government agencies. Thus, the Department of state registration of legal entities of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan has implemented an automated system for submitting electronic applications, which allows entrepreneurs to register businesses online.

The innovation is designed to speed up the process of state registration, re-registration and liquidation of legal entities.

The State Migration Service of Turkmenistan launched an online queue by means of which one can sign up for a receipt of an external passport and appointment to governing entities through the official website.

It is obvious that Turkmen private IT companies will have to implement dozens of innovative projects for various government agencies. Therefore, in the years immediately ahead, rapid growth of this niche is in prospect, which will lead to a digital transformation of the business sector and the country’s economy.

Recall that by January 2021, all institutions of the country were assigned to create their own websites and implement electronic document management systems.

In March, the Turkmen Parliament adopted a new Law “On electronic document, electronic document management and digital services”. It has consolidated the legal force of digital documents and clarified an issue how the new system should function.
