The Austrian national team defeated the Netherlands with a score of 3:2 in the match of the third round of the group stage of the European Football Championship, securing access to the playoffs from first place in the group. The match was held in Berlin.
The goals for Austria were scored by Romano Schmid (59th minute) and Marcel Sabitzer (80th minute). Cody Gakpo (47th) and Memphis Depay (75th) scored for the Netherlands. Doniella Malen's own goal opened the scoring in the 6th minute.
In the parallel match of group “D”, the teams of France and Poland tied 1:1. The goals were scored by Kylian Mbappe and Robert Lewandowski.
In the 1/8 finals, Austria will meet the second team of group “F” (Portugal, Türkiye, Czech Republic, Georgia), and France will play the second team of group “E” (Romania, Belgium, Slovakia, Ukraine).
The European Championship will end on July 14. The current champion is the Italian team.
