The third meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of five Central Asian countries and China ended on Wednesday in Kazakhstan’s capital Nur-Sultan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said in its press release.
In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov made a special emphasis on the prospects for energy and transport-communications cooperation between the countries, noting the readiness of Turkmenistan to consistently increase natural gas supplies to China through Central Asia.
The Turkmen Foreign Minister also stated the validity and real possibility of establishing multimodal transport links from China to the west through Central Asia.
The meeting participants also paid special attention to the situation in Afghanistan, the unification of efforts to combat new threats and other important matters of common concern.
As a result of the meeting, the sides adopted a Joint Statement, a Roadmap for the Development of Regional Cooperation for 2022-2025, an Initiative to Deepen Cooperation between the Countries of Central Asia and China in the Field of Connectivity, and an Initiative for Cooperation in Ensuring Digital Data Security between China and the Countries of Central Asia.
