“… God gave me talent in arts”

The water in the aryk canal comes to life, It flows fast, gurgling and tinkling.I remember those eyes looking at me For the first time near it… Kara Seytliev, who wrote the lyrics to the song “Wonderful Eyes”, devoted them to his wife, Zinaida Fedorovna.

In 1955, this song with music by Andrey Babaev appeared in a movie called “Old Ashir’s Trick”.Singer Rashid Beybutov performed the song so brilliantly that for years it has remained much more popular than the movie itself.

Years afterwards, another singer Murad Divanaev began performing “Wonderful Eyes”.At all his concerts audience members requested him perform the song.As a result “Wonderful Eyes” became a signature hit in his entire career.

Laconically, but aptly titled “The Singer”, Vasily Shatalov’s book has recently hit the shelves. It features Murad Divanaev’s biography, lavishly and attractively illustrated by photographs of the singer and his family members, as well as poems, songs and romances. “God gave me talent in arts”, Murad Divanaev says of himself in one of his poems.

And that is perfectly true: he paints, writes poetry, shoots photographs, and sings, of course mostly “Wonderful Eyes”.The book about Murad Divanaev was published by the Turkmen State Publishing Service with a print run of 100 copies.

This makes the edition rare.
