Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Expected to Visit Russia

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty chamber of Turkmen bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh, is expected in Russia with an official visit, the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko said in a meeting with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on Monday.

Valentina Matvienko congratulated the Halk Maslakhaty head on being awarded the Order "For Merits to the Fatherland" IV degree and conveyed greetings and congratulations on the occasion from President Vladimir Putin, the official Turkmen media reports.

Stating the special role of inter-parliamentary cooperation in strengthening contacts that are an important component of the Turkmen-Russian partnership, the sides reaffirmed their mutual willingness to maintain contacts between the legislative bodies of both countries, using them for comprehensive communication on the broad agenda of bilateral dialogue.

They also noted with satisfaction that Turkmenistan and Russia have established relations of deep strategic cooperation, taking bilateral ties to a higher level and making them closer and more dynamic.

At the end of the telephone conversation, the sides expressed confidence that the high level of mutual understanding in bilateral relations will continue to serve as a solid foundation for building up the constructive cooperation across.

Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Russia were established in 1992.
