At a meeting held today with the Chairwoman of the Mejlis (Lower House of the National Council) and Deputy Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh (National Council of the People’s Council), President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov instructed to prepare a set of measures for the significant date celebrated this year the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Turkmenistan, the Information Program "Watan" of the Turkmen Television reported.
As noted, these events should promote the popularization of the content of the Basic Law, the ongoing work to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens as well as the country’s achievements on the path of democratic development.
The Day of the Constitution and the State Flag of Turkmenistan is celebrated on May 18, starting in 2018. Initially, these two holidays were celebrated separately, but in October 2017, the country's Parliament decided to combine them.
