On 7 February the festivities in honour of the commissioning of new construction objects are scheduled to be held in Ashgabat with President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov in attendance.
The festivities were organized in the glass-manufacturing plant in Ovan-depe and in the residential settlement “Taze zaman”.
Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that roads leading to the shopping centre “Altyn Asyr” and the residential district of Choganly were cordoned off since early in the morning.
As a result, employees of manufacturing facilities located in Ovan-depe failed to get to work and those, who worked during the night shift, could not get back home.
Vendors were not able to get to the markets.
According to the weather forecasts, it is currently -2 degrees below Celsius in Ashgabat. The outside temperatures in the morning are even colder. The resident, who need to get to work, had to wait for several hours before the streets were opened.
Public sector employees and workers of art and culture, who were scheduled to take part in the opening ceremonies of new facilities, were freezing outside.
