In Malta, airships will be used as public transport

Malta is considering using airships for public transport. In the near future, residents and visitors of the island may be able to travel by airship to the neighboring island of Gozo and even to Sicily (Italy). Euro-pulse.ru reports this.

Currently, you can get from Malta to Gozo by ferry, and to Sicily by ferry or plane.

The introduction of airships will reduce harmful emissions by 90%. 60% of the airship's lift is provided by helium, and 40% by electric motors. Airships fly at speeds comparable to high-speed trains and do not produce excessive noise.

The production of airships is carried out by a British company. Their airships are capable of carrying up to 100 people.

The idea of using airships as public transport has already found a response in Spain. Air Nostrum Group plans to purchase 10 airships to partially replace regional flights.
