Malaysia Seeks to Boost Halal Industry Ties with Turkmenistan

On 17 November 2025, at the initiative of the Turkmen side, a meeting was held in the Malaysian Parliament between the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Malaysia, M. Mashalov, and the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Regional Development of Malaysia, Dr Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the current state of Turkmen-Malaysian relations and discussed prospects for further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation, particularly in the political, trade, economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

In this context, the special role of the long-standing and sustainable partnership between Turkmenistan and the Malaysian company Petronas was noted.

The Malaysian side also proposed enhancing cooperation between the business communities of the two countries in such areas as the halal product industry and halal certification.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain regular contacts between the foreign policy agencies of Turkmenistan and Malaysia with a view to further strengthening bilateral cooperation.
