Minsk will be the sports capital of CIS in 2023

According to the results of the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS, held on April 14 in Samarkand, it was decided to assign Minsk the status of the sports capital of the CIS. The corresponding decision was approved by the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS at a meeting.

Next year, the status of the sports capital of the CIS will be transferred to Armenian Gyumri. Also, during the meeting, a number of decisions were made in the field of cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth, reports RIA Novosti.

The session was held with the participation of heads and representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting that the Regulation on the Interstate Program "Sports Capitals of the Commonwealth" was approved at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS held on October 12 in Astana.

The need to develop the document is due to the increased need in the CIS countries to conduct joint sports and mass sports events of different orientations.
