President of Turkmenistan Arrives in China on Working Visit

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in China on a working visit to participate in the Central Asia-China Summit in the city of Xi'an, the official Turkmen media reported on Wednesday.

At the International Airport of Ashgabat President Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with a representative of Chinese Embassy in Turkmenistan, during which the interstate partnership, covering a wide range of areas, including trade and economic, oil and gas, cultural and humanitarian field was emphasized.

The Turkmen side noted that Turkmenistan views the current visit as an important step in enhancing the Turkmen-Chinese cooperation.

As part of the working visit, President Berdimuhamedov will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping. As a result of the talks at the highest level it is envisaged to sign a number of documents, which will add to the contractual legal framework of bilateral cooperation.

The current visit is the second visit of the President of Turkmenistan to China this year.

Turkmenistan and China established diplomatic relations on January 6, 1992.
