Residents of Lipetzk to build Turkmen cities

TASS reports that Vladimir Padalko, Vice President of Russia’s Chamber of Commerce was quoted as saying at the Turkmen-Russian economic forum that Lipetsk region intends to extend trade cooperation with Turkmenistan in a short-term perspective by exporting oil and gas equipment and technology, metal goods as well as by engaging Lipetsk construction workers in urban development of Turkmen cities.

According to Lipetsk Chamber of Commerce, in the first six months of 2018 there was no trade between Lipetsk region and Turkmenistan despite the fact that in 2017 the trade turnover amounted to $1,1 million.

Moreover, the export of engineering products to Turkmenistan worth $1,09 mln accounted for over 90% of goods turnover, whereas only fabrics worth $0,05 mln were imported to Lipetsk region from Turkmenistan.

“We see Turkmenistan as a strategic partner, which is ready to enhance the relationship between the two countries in gas and oil and chemistry areas.Lipetsk is a consumer of these products but at the same time a supplier of equipment and technologies.

There are potential projects we could work on together”, —Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce said.

According to him, the Turkmenistan authorities allocated about $40 billion for the development of city infrastructure facilities. The expert believes that in this connection there is a possibility for Lipetsk construction companies to be awarded government contracts by Turkmenistan’s authorities.
