Samarkand Hosts Meeting of CIS Council of Foreign Affairs Ministers

A meeting of the Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States’ Foreign Ministers was held in Samarkand on Friday, Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev as well as the CIS Executive Committee attended the event.

The Ministers exchanged views on current international and regional issues, as well as the opportunities for diverse collaboration in the CIS.

According to the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, following the meeting, the Council members approved documents, which will be submitted for confirmation at the meetings of the CIS Council of Heads of states.

The next meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers will be held on October 12 in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.
