The cordoning of roads during the ECO summit in Ashgabat results in irregular public transport service

On 27 November, 2021 the President of Turkey arrived in Ashgabat to attend the 15th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which was held on 28 November in Garagum hotel near the airport.

On 29 November, 2021 the briefing to sum up the results of the summit was also held there.

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that during these days many central streets and roads leading to the airport, in particular Atamurat Niyazov avenue and the Neutralitya avenue, were cordoned off.

The cordoning of the roads has resulted in lengthy delays in the service of public transport and residents had to walk at least part of the way. As always happens in such cases, residents of the city had not been warned about irregular public transport service in advance.

Some districts of the capital where meetings were held, for instance, at the Presidential palace and around the hotel, were also closed for pedestrians.

The area around Garagum hotel as well as the adjacent roads has been cordoned off since its opening on 19 November. The post The cordoning of roads during the ECO summit in Ashgabat results in irregular public transport service first appeared on Chronicles of Turkmenistan.
