From November 13 to 15, the delegation of Turkmenistan took an active part in the forum “Dialogue of Women Leaders of Central Asia” in Brussels, reports the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium.
The event was organized by the European Union and the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy.
The Turkmen delegation included representatives of the Mejlis and the Women's Union of Turkmenistan. Their participation demonstrated the country's commitment to gender equality and desire to empower women on the international stage.
The busy program of the forum included meetings with high-ranking EU officials, discussing a wide range of topics - from the role of women in ensuring peace and security to socio-economic achievements in the region.
Important meetings were held at the forum, in particular with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia, the EU Ambassador for Gender and Diversity, the Director of the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office, the Deputy Director General of the European Commission for International Partnerships, the Vice-President of the European Commission for Democracy and demography, as well as members of the European Parliament.
Members of the Turkmen delegation presented constitutional guarantees of gender equality in Turkmenistan and shared successes in reforming and strengthening women's rights.
The importance of women's participation in education, innovation and youth policy was particularly noted.
The international forum has become a good platform for exchanging experiences and establishing cooperation in the field of women's rights. The participation of the Turkmen delegation demonstrated the achievements and active role of Turkmenistan in promoting gender equality on the world stage.
