
The Joint Conference of Turkmenistan and the European Union “30 years of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union: working together for a better future” was held in Ashgabat. The event was dedicated to discussing the further development of a multifaceted partnership between the parties, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
The plenary meeting was opened by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Teri Hakala.
The speakers emphasized the progressive nature of Turkmen-European cooperation in recent years and outlined priority areas for the future: education, security, climate, transport, energy, digital economy, water resources and trade.
At the end of the plenary meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the state concern “Turkmengaz” and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ).
Thematic sessions of the conference were devoted to successful joint projects in the areas of education, trade, security and the green economy. An exhibition was held in the foyer of the Foreign Ministry building, demonstrating the achievements of the 30-year Turkmen-European partnership.
