Turkmenistan and GIZ join forces in the fight against climate change

Turkmenistan and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) have entered into an agreement on the implementation of a large-scale project aimed at mitigating the effects of climate change, reports the online publication News Central Asia.

The project entitled “Measures and political dialogue to combat climate change in 2024-2028” will start in the near future.

The corresponding memorandum was signed on May 14 in Ashgabat by representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the State Concern “Turkmengaz” and GIZ.

The ceremony was held within the framework of the conference “30 years of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union”, where issues of inter-parliamentary relations, security, trade, education, green energy and other areas of cooperation were discussed.

The joint project of Turkmenistan and GIZ will focus on the implementation of specific measures to adapt to climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The parties plan to intensify political dialogue and interdepartmental coordination on this important issue over the next four years.
