The first freight train from Türkiye to Uzbekistan passed through Turkmenistan

The ceremony of welcoming the first freight train from Türkiye was held at the Central Railway Station of Tashkent on Saturday, reports the National News Agency of Uzbekistan.

At the station, the freight train was solemnly welcomed to the Uzbek national music.

A train of 40 wagons loaded with household appliances (refrigeration equipment) arrived in Uzbekistan, passing through the territory of Türkiye, Iran and Turkmenistan.

The train is the first freight train on the route Türkiye -Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan. Currently, more than 250 wagons are planned to arrive on this route.

The cargo railway route Türkiye -Iran-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan with a total length of over 4500 km was developed by “Uzbekistan Temir Yollari” jointly with the Turkish side.

The project for the implementation of initiatives to organize interstate transportation along alternative routes was adopted in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) at the first meeting of the heads of railway administrations of the countries of the Organization of Turkic Speaking States. During the negotiations, the route of transportation from Turkish Izmir (“Gumruh” station) to Tashkent was approved.
