As Turkmenportal has learned, the national football team of Turkmenistan plans to hold a friendly match with the Hong Kong team in September.
At the moment, the federations are negotiating for the upcoming friendly match, which will be a good preparation for the start of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The national team of Turkmenistan has played against Hong Kong twice in its history. Both meetings took place in the second round of the 2010 World Cup frill cycle. Turkmenistan played a draw (0:0) on the road, and achieved a confident victory (3:0) at home.
In January-February 2024, potential rivals of the Turkmenistan national team will take part in the Asian Cup, where they will play against the teams of the United Arab Emirates, Iran and Palestine in the group stage.
