The President briefed that three vessels are under repair in the new port

At the Cabinet session held on 14 September Deputy Prime Minister overseeing transportation Mammetkham Chakyev briefed President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov that two ships two dry cargo vessels “Turkmenistan” and “Magtymguly” and a crude oil tanker “Bitarap” are being repaired at the shipbuilding facility “Balkan”.

The state information agency TDH reports that “in a short term perspective ships of various types, including RO-RO ferries designed to carry wheeled cargo, are scheduled to be built at the shipyard”.

Extending Turkmenistan’s marine fleet and launching the production of various vessels will contribute to an increase in freight turnover, — the President said.

Let us recall that on 11 August the President inspected Turkmenbashi sea port, which had been opened on 2 May.

At the shipbuilding and ship-repairing yard “Balkan” the stands featuring the ships scheduled to be built at the facility were presented to him.According to the footage of Turkmenistan’s state television, the port is absolutely empty with no works in progress.
