The President calls for bringing Turkmen mass media in line with the global standards and issues a final reprimand to the Deputy Prime Minister

The state information agency TDH reports that at the Cabinet session held on 22 May, 2020 Deputy Prime Minister overseeing culture and mass media Bakhargul Abdyeva gave a progress report to President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov on improving Turkmen media outlets.

Berdymukhammedov, in his turn, charged Abdyeba with the task of bringing domestic mass media in line with modern standards and issued her a severe reprimand with the final warning for shortcoming in the performance of media outlets.

For instance, according to the President, articles in print media and programs of the national television do not meet the requirements of the present day.

Let us recall that apart from this admonition, since her appointment as Deputy Chairperson of the Cabinet of Ministers in January 2018, Bakhargul Abdyeva has been reprimanded twice: in February 2020 and in July 2019.

It should be pointed that Berdymukhammedov on a regular basis expressed his discontent with the quality of television programming, which, however, does not bring any changes in the performance of television.
