The Russian Ethnographic Museum will host an exhibition of Turkmen carpets

On May 28, the Russian Museum of Ethnography in St. Petersburg will host a large-scale festival "The World of Carpet", timed to coincide with Carpet Day, which is annually celebrated in Turkmenistan on the last Sunday of May.

According to the portal "Culture of St. Petersburg", the museum staff prepared a special lecture program and curated tours about carpets and rugs from Turkmenistan, Russia, Moldova, the countries of the Baltic region and the masterpieces of the Carpet Storeroom of the Russian Ethnographic Museum.

Within the framework of the World of Carpet festival, museum visitors will get acquainted with the rules for storing carpet products, learn about the most important role of carpet weaving in the culture of the peoples of the Caucasus and Central Asia, the main centers of carpet weaving.

Museum visitors will be offered a master class "Weaving on a Frame", where everyone can try themselves as a weaver, get acquainted with different weaving techniques and create their own bookmark for books.
