The situation with a shortage of buses in Ashgabat exacerbates in the run-up to holidays

In the run-up to the festive events, devoted to the Day of the Turkmen Horse, clean-up campaigns and rehearsals are underway in Ashgabat.A large number of buses from the municipal vehicle fleet was allocated to transport participants of the large-scale events.

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that the remaining buses, left to service intercity routes, run with a 40 minute interval with crowds congregating at the bus stops.

The situation was exacerbated by the fact that two weeks ago the road traffic department of the police launched a clamdown campaign against taxi drivers, rendering private transportation services and public transport and state-run taxis failed to handle the passenger flow on weekdays.

The avenues of Turkmenbashi, Magtymguly and the streets of Gerogly and A. Navoi were fully or partially cordoned off. The routes of buses 1, 20, 29, 34, 37 were changed with the prior warning of the city residents.

Conscripts, who are engaged to impose order on the motorways, for unknown reason prevent residents from walking some pedestrian crossings, which leads to more problems with getting around the city.
