Today, the “South-South” Forum was held at the UN building in Ashgabat, which was aimed at raising awareness of the social model of disability and inclusive approaches in the field of employment and vocational education.
The forum was carried out within the framework of the project “Affordable work for people with disabilities in Turkmenistan: transforming social enterprises for the possibility of education and decent work”, which is jointly implemented by the UNDP and the Society of Blind and Deaf Turkmenistan (SBDT) with the financial support of the Global Development and Cooperation Fund “South -South”.
During the event, participants were familiarized with the results of this project aimed at modernizing and re-equipping three training and production enterprises of SBDT: cardboard and printing workshop No. 1 in Ashgabat and sewing workshops in the cities of Mary and Turkmenabat.
The results of completed and ongoing trainings for SBDT personnel to ensure more efficient use of the provided equipment were also highlighted, the UNDP press service reports.
Within the framework of the project, an official visit to Turkmenistan by a delegation of international experts from China was organized on October 24-26.The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress and achievements of the project, as well as exchange experience and introduce local SBDT specialists to international knowledge delivery platforms.
International experts also conducted a workshop on mentoring and discussed the Mentoring Guidelines developed as part of the project.
