Turkmen, Afghan Presidents Discuss Trade-Economic Cooperation

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani held a telephone conversation on Tuesday. The Heads of States exchanged views on promising areas of cooperation, and noted the potential for the development of trade-economic ties and the implementation of new joint projects.

During the phone talks, the Heads of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan praised the traditionally friendly interstate dialogue, which is successfully developing both in a bilateral and multilateral format, the official media of Turkmenistan reports.

The Presidents noted that the neighboring states effectively cooperate in various spheres of the economy, participate in the implementation of ambitious joint projects in such important areas as energy, transport and communications.

At the end of the telephone conversation, Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Mohammad Ashraf Ghani exchanged best wishes for each other and the peoples of both countries, expressing confidence that the traditionally friendly interstate relations between the two countries will further strengthen and develop in all areas.

On January 14, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani took part via video link in the inauguration ceremony of a number of joint infrastructure projects.
