Turkmen Agriculture Producer Mechanizes Its Garlic Planting

Tebigy Ekin agriculture company operating in Turkmenistan’s eastern velayat of Lebap mechanized its garlic sowing this year by using the specialized planter equipment of the Iranian company Sabz Dasht.

This marks the first use of such planting technique in garlic production by farmers in Lebap, the country’s official media reported on Thursday.

This year, the company plans to plant garlic on 30 hectares of land, the bulk of which has already been completed.

The new equipment allows Tebigy Ekin’s farmers to simultaneously plant garlic in four rows, while performing most of the work automatically. The planter also allows to change the planting frequency of seeds. Accurate seeding is a key feature of the equipment, according to the report.

The equipment is produced by the Iranian Sabz Dasht, which has more than 40 years of experience in domestic and international markets.

The company has leased 953 hectares of plots for 99 years. Almost all of the farmland is located near the city of Turkmenabat, the administrative center of the velayat.
