Turkmen Footwear Producer to Open New Factory, Eyes More Exports

With eyes on boosting its exports, the Turkmen footwear manufacturer Röwşen Individual Enterprise will open in 2024 new plant capable of producing millions of pairs of shoes a year, the official media of Turkmenistan reported on Wednesday.

To implement the new project, the company received seven hectares of land in Mary velayat.

The Turkmen company presently produces around 500 pairs of shoes a day using mainly domestic leather raw materials.

The construction of the factory will start at the beginning of this year and it will be equipped with automated machinery designed to produce all parts of shoes, including soles made from natural raw materials and textiles. It will employ 800 people.

The opening of the new plant will not only allow reducing the volume of footwear imports, but also significantly expand the country's export opportunities, according to the report.

The factory will be built as part of the implementation of the National Program of the President of Turkmenistan for the socio-economic development of the country for 2019-2025.

The Turkmen shoe brand is exported to Russia, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. The Turkmen shoemaker also operates a branch in the Domodedovo district of Moscow, where it sells it footwear, and aims to organize their production in the future.
