Turkmen nationals hold a protest in Istanbul

On 26 June, 2020 an act of protest was held by Turkmen nationals requesting respect for their rights and resignation of Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov.

The demonstration which brought together over twenty people, kicked off at Eni Kapi square. However, one of the protest organizers, Chemen Oraeva, told “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” that staff of Turkmenistan’s Embassy wearing facial masks and sportswear appeared at the demonstration venue. They were accompanied by unidentified local men who started provoking a fight.

Following this about twenty participants decided to leave the square and marched along the streets of the city chanting slogans and their demands.
