Turkmen President Elected Head of National Olympic Committee

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was unanimously elected to head the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Turkmenistan.

The election took place during the meeting of the General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan on Tuesday, the country's official media reports.

The meeting also considered a number of organizational issues, including a report on the activities of the NOC in the 2016-2021 period.

At the end of the meeting of the NOC General Assembly, the participants adopted an Appeal to the President of Turkmenistan, President of the NOC Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in which they expressed sincere gratitude for the full support of domestic sports, the creation of conditions for improving the skills of Turkmen athletes, assuring that they would make every effort to successfully address tasks assigned to them.

The NOC of Turkmenistan was founded in 1990 and registered with the International Olympic Committee in 1993. The NOC headquarters is located in Ashgabat.
