Turkmen, Uzbek Leaders Call For Further Deepening Ties

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in a phone talk on Thursday stressed the importance of cardinal expansion of multifaceted cooperation between the two countries.

The sides discussed in detail topical issues of strengthening Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership in the context of implementing agreements at the highest level, the Press Service of the Uzbek President said in its statement.

The Presidents stated with satisfaction the successful implementation of cooperation projects that have facilitated a steady growth of mutual trade, expansion of practical interaction in manufacturing, energy, agriculture, water management and transport.

Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev also exchanged views on the regional agenda and aspects of interaction within the framework of multilateral institutions. They also discussed the schedule of forthcoming meetings and events.

In 2021, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan amounted to $881.9 million, which is 61% more compared to 2020.
