Turkmenistan in 2021 produced record amount of natural gas since independence over 83.77 billion cubic meters (bcm), Shahym Abdrakhmanov, the Deputy Chairman of the Government overseeing the country's oil and gas industry, announced in his briefing during the extraordinary meeting of the Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) chamber of the country's bicameral parliament Milli Gengesh (National Council) on Friday.

The meeting hosted by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was attended by members of Halk Maslahaty, members of the government, deputies, heads of ministries and departments, political parties and public organizations, governors and mayors.

Abdrakhmanov said the 2021 production plan for natural and associated gas was fulfilled by 120.1%, for its export 129.8%.

The country’s natural gas exports in 2021 neared 45.9 bcm.

Last year, Turkmenistan launched the production of pearlized white polypropylene film, Jet A-1 aviation fuel, Turkmenoil Advance 5W-40 semi-synthetic lubricating oil, marine fuel, alkylate gasoline with high-octane component and A-98 gasoline that meets the quality requirements of EURO-6 standards.

Focusing on the significance of the oil-gas complex, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted among the priorities of the country the modernization of the complex, diversification of export potential, and formation of a multi-variant pipeline network of energy supplies.

In this regard, the Head of State pointed out to the Vice Premier the need to attract foreign investment, including for projects in exploration, production, development of new fields, processing of hydrocarbons.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also has tasked Abdrakhmanov to continue work on introducing a digital system in the oil and gas sector, ensuring energy security through increasing the volume and new export routes of Turkmen natural gas.

We should actively implement the strategically important Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project and continue building new natural gas processing plants, increasing the production and export of liquefied gas, the Turkmen President said.

The program for the socio-economic development of the country for 2022 and the national program for the socio-economic development of the state for 2022-2052 were also adopted during the meeting.
