Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan increased the volume of sea container traffic by 2.9 times

The total number of TEU containers transported between the Baku International Sea Trade Port (Azerbaijan) and the Turkmenbashy International Sea Port for the period from January to June this year reached 2362 units, Trend reports.

According to the CJSC "Morskoy Merchant Fleet" of Turkmenistan, in the first half of this year, 2,9 times more TEU containers were transported compared to the same period in 2022.

Of the total volume of cargo transportation, Turkmen imports account for 25% of cargoes, exports - 34%, transit - 41%.

The total volume of cargo transportation by the ships of the Merchant Sea Fleet of Turkmenistan for the period from January to June of this year increased by 31.4% compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 1,15 million tons.

For the corresponding period, the cargo turnover amounted to 476.838 million ton-kilometers, which is 28,7% more than for the same period in 2022.
