Turkmenistan and Iran have agreed to unite their efforts in combating dust storms in the Karakum Desert, the Iran Press news agency on Tuesday.

Issues related to fighting against dust storms were discussed during a video conference between Turkmenistan's Minister of Environmental Protection, Chary Babaniyazov, and Iraj Heshmati, Deputy of Human Environment at Iran’s Department of Environment.

Furthermore, the parties emphasized the importance of exchanging experiences and organizing field visits to affected areas.

Chary Babaniyazov, in turn, highlighted the significance of vegetation development in the context of combating dust and desertification processes.

The Karakum Desert is one of the largest deserts in Central Asia, occupying nearly three-quarters of Turkmenistan's territory.
