Turkmenistan celebrated International Day of Yoga

About two hundred residents of Ashgabat gathered at the Center for Yoga and Traditional Medicine, operating in the “Bagtyyarlyk” sports complex, where celebrations were held in honor of the International Day of Yoga. The official website of the Embassy of India in Turkmenistan reported abut this.

The Embassy of India in Turkmenistan with the support of the Government of Turkmenistan organized the event.

Those who gathered at the “Bagtyyarlyk” sports complex practiced physical exercises such as stretching, bending, meditation and yoga. They were held outdoors.

International Day of Yoga was established by the UN General Assembly in 2014, which established its annual celebration since 2015 - June 21. India's initiative has been approved by 175 UN member states.

The Center for Yoga and Traditional Medicine in Ashgabat was opened during the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Turkmenistan in July 2015.
