Turkmenistan Intensifies Works to Open Its Logistics Center in Astrakhan

The Consul of Turkmenistan in Russia’s Astrakhan oblast Guych Garayev in a meeting with the Head of the oblast’s Agency for International Relations Vladimir Golovkov informed about the creation of the working group that works out the project for the construction of logistics center of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan.

The working group includes the heads of the Agency for Transport and Communications under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, the Deňizderýaýollary (Maritime and River Transport) Agency, logistics and railway companies.

According to the Consul, the working group is preparing for a visit to the Astrakhan oblast to discuss the construction of the facility in detail, the press service of governor of the Astrakhan oblast said in its statement.

The tasks of the working group also include consideration of issues related to the opening of a regular ferry line between the ports of Olya and Turkmenbashi.

Stressing that Turkmenistan has been and remains a strategic partner for the Astrakhan region in the Caspian region, Vladimir Golovkov said the agreements reached during the meeting of the Astrakhan Governor Igor Babushkin with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat are beginning to be implemented in stages.

Guych Garayev stated despite the pandemic related restrictions, cooperation between Turkmenistan and Astrakhan is developing effectively, and highlighted the progress in bilateral foreign trade in 2021.

Golovkov informed about the envisaged visit to Turkmenistan of representatives of the United Shipbuilding Corporation and the Southern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant. During the visit, they will exchange experience and get acquainted with the capabilities of shipbuilding industry in Turkmenistan.
