Turkmenistan is preparing for the upcoming population and housing census in 2022, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of the country.
The census will be organized as part of implementation of the resolution “2020 World Population and Housing Census Program” adopted by the UN Economic and Social Council.
Chairman of the Turkmen State Statistics Committee Khalykdurdy Gurbanov, during a government meeting, reported on the statistical and analytical work carried out in various fields and sectors, Turkmen media reported.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of further developing the statistical system, the task of which is to comprehensively and thoroughly study the state and growth of the country’s economy, various socio-economic processes, their regularities by collecting, processing, analyzing and summarizing the relevant data, the Watan newspaper reported.
It is necessary to switch to a digital economy, a digital system for collecting and processing statistical data, strengthen the requirements for work in this area, the Turkmen president said.
