Turkmenistan Reaffirms Commitment to One China Principle

Based on the Charter of the United Nations and considering that respect for the territorial integrity of states is one of its fundamental principles, Turkmenistan has reaffirmed that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing all of China and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory.

According to a statement released Tuesday by Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkmenistan, whose status of permanent neutrality has been internationally recognized three times, conducts its foreign policy in accordance with international law.

Turkmenistan firmly adheres to its principled position on the One China policy and opposes any forms of “Taiwan independence.”

According to the statement, Turkmenistan supports the peaceful development of relations across the Taiwan Strait, as well as all efforts by the government of the People’s Republic of China aimed at the country’s reunification.
