Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov Meets Russian President Vladimir Putin

Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov met Friday in Ashgabat with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the International Forum on Peace and Trust, according to the Russian Presidential press service.

Putin congratulated Turkmenistan on hosting the forum and on the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality.

The Russian leader said that Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality has proven effective, contributes to regional security, and creates favorable conditions for the development of bilateral relations.

He noted that economic cooperation between the two countries is becoming more diversified, while political dialogue remains trusted and stable.

Putin extended an invitation to President Berdimuhamedov to visit St. Petersburg at the end of the month.

Speaking at the forum, he also stated that Russian companies are prepared to undertake new investment projects in the Turkmen market.
