Turkmenistan strengthens international cooperation in the field of agriculture

During the working visit of the delegation of Turkmenistan to Italy, a series of meetings were held with the heads of international agricultural organizations, reports the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

The head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, Rashid Meredov, discussed the prospects for cooperation with the President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development, Alvaro Lario.

The Turkmen delegation also met with the Deputy Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Maurizio Martina. The parties reviewed the progress of implementation of joint projects and outlined new areas of interaction. Particular attention was paid to Turkmenistan’s interest in strengthening food security in the face of climate change.

During the negotiations, the Turkmen side emphasized the importance of developing the agricultural sector to ensure sustainable development. The parties agreed to study in detail potential areas for expanding cooperation.
