Turkmenistan to Host First Meeting of Turkmen-Slovak Joint Economic Commission

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a Decree during a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, establishing the Turkmen part of the Turkmen-Slovak Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation and approving its composition, state media reported on Friday.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Hojamyrat Geldimyradov reported on preparations for the inaugural meeting of the commission, saying that the necessary measures are being taken to launch its activities and organize the first session.

According to the government, the commission will serve as a platform for discussing bilateral cooperation in trade, the economy, fuel and energy, construction, transport, communications, information technologies, agriculture, environmental protection, healthcare, medical science, education, culture, sports and tourism.

Addressing the meeting, President Berdimuhamedov said Turkmenistan maintains productive relations with European countries, including Slovakia. After hearing the report, he signed the decree and instructed the deputy prime minister to continue the relevant work.

The Cabinet meeting also reviewed a number of other issues related to state affairs and adopted corresponding decisions.
