UN warns 2025 could be hottest year in world history

The Earth continues to warm at an alarming rate. According to the statement of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, 2025 may set a new temperature record for the entire history of observations, snob.ru reports.

2024 has already shown an unprecedented level of climate anomalies. In some regions of the planet, temperatures were recorded that exceeded the limits of human endurance. The world faced unprecedented natural disasters: from devastating hurricanes and floods to large-scale fires and severe droughts.

Guterres emphasized the urgent need to implement early warning systems for climate threats. The UN is actively working on strategies to counteract extreme temperatures. However, the situation is complicated by the fact that half of the world’s countries still do not have such warning systems, and the poorest countries have only 10% of the necessary data to create them.
