UNESCO: Africa is a potential leader in the global fashion industry

A UNESCO study has shown that Africa has every chance of becoming one of the world's leading fashion centers. The continent has a rich tradition of textile production, as well as a rapidly growing market, reports "Novosti UN".

Africa is a major producer of raw materials for the textile industry (37 out of 54 countries produce cotton). Every year, the continent exports textiles worth 15.5 billion dollars and imports 23.1 billion dollars.

In recent years, there has also been an increase in consumer demand for fashion products of local production, especially among the youth and the middle class.

In addition, the digital sector is actively developing in Africa. This contributes to the development of trade between African countries and the emergence of young talents in the field of fashion.
