Uzbek President to Visit Turkmenistan This Week

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will carry out official visit to Turkmenistan on October 20-21.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the ongoing work in preparation for the official visit to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the cabinet meeting on Sunday in Ashgabat, the official Turkmen media reports.

Accrording to Meredov, one of the priorities of foreign policy of Turkmenistan is to strengthen and expand fruitful relations with neighboring countries, including Uzbekistan. Turkmenistan is developing mutually beneficial cooperation with this country in a wide range of areas.

Together with the Uzbek side, Turkmenistan has prepared a draft program of the visit that envisages signing a package of bilateral documents.

Following the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the invariably friendly, good neighborly nature of the Turkmen-Uzbek relations.

President Berdimuhamedov tasked the Vice-Premier to ensure the high organizational level of the forthcoming official visit of the Uzbek President to Turkmenistan and the events scheduled as part of it, noting the importance of regular high-level negotiations designed to give a new impetus to the further development of mutually beneficial Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation of a strategic nature.
