Washington Hosts Turkmen-U.S. Business Forum

A business forum titled Turkmen-U.S. Business Cooperation: New Opportunities and Prospects for Partnership Development was held as part of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s working visit to the United States.

The event brought together government officials and business representatives from Turkmenistan and the United States, including executives from prominent companies such as John Deere, General Electric (GE), SpaceX, and Oppenheimer Holdings Inc., as well as representatives from the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

The forum highlighted steadily growing bilateral trade and economic relations, built on principles of effective dialogue and mutual respect.

Before the forum, which aimed to identify promising areas for partnership, participants explored an exhibition of Turkmen products. The display showcased the country’s vast export potential, progress in diversifying the national economy, and advances in industrialization.

U.S. representatives praised Turkmenistan’s high-quality, environmentally friendly food products, textiles, leather goods, and medical supplies presented by Arkadag Medisina Klasteri Menejment. The exhibition also featured books by the Hero-Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The forum was further enriched by performances from Turkmen art masters, highlighting the country’s rich cultural heritage.

Opening the event, Eric Stewart, executive director of the Turkmenistan-U.S. Business Council, emphasized the council’s role in strengthening ties between private-sector entities in both countries. He noted that the platform has stood the test of time and remains an effective mechanism that should be leveraged more actively.

The chairman of the Turkmen Chamber of Commerce and Industry outlined the country’s favorable investment climate, created through comprehensive government support, and highlighted significant opportunities for American companies to implement projects across various sectors of the Turkmen economy.

U.S. business leaders noted the growing interest in Turkmenistan’s rapidly developing market and expressed readiness to contribute to the country’s socio-economic development programs by providing advanced technologies, innovations, and global best practices.

The chairman of the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs briefed participants on Turkmenistan’s financial and banking mechanisms, economic achievements, and ongoing national monetary and credit policies.

The deputy head of Turkmengaz presented long-term opportunities for cooperation in the fuel and energy sector, including projects aimed at strengthening regional energy security, diversifying export routes, and developing green energy.

Discussions on energy cooperation covered the modernization of relevant infrastructure, adoption of environmentally friendly advanced technologies, and expansion of partnerships in renewable energy in line with the global climate agenda.

Investment emerged as one of the most promising areas of collaboration. The forum highlighted the potential for trade and economic cooperation and outlined mechanisms to fully realize it. Participants expressed confidence in the continued success of Turkmen-U.S. relations, which have gained new momentum in recent years.

The forum also emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships in high-tech and digital sectors, including cybersecurity, communications, and digital infrastructure.

Turkmen private companies in the construction sector showcased ongoing large-scale infrastructure projects, their capacity to build industrial facilities and modern residential complexes, and accumulated expertise. Speakers expressed Turkmenistan’s interest in collaborating with U.S. companies on equipment supply and green construction technologies.

A major focus of discussions was cooperation in the processing industry. Participants expressed interest in partnership and knowledge exchange in producing high-quality, internationally compliant food and textile products, expanding export potential and market access, and improving workforce professionalism.

The forum concluded with bilateral meetings during which participants discussed prospects for expanding collaboration.
