Water outage in Ashgabat on the day of the meeting devoted to water supply

The state information agency TDH reports that on 18 July President Serdar Berdymukhammedov held a working meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Annageldi Yazmyradov overseeing agriculture and khyakims of the velayats.

Water supply, including the irrigation of fields, was on the agenda in the progress reports given by the heads of the provinces.

The head of state ordered to maintain waterworks facilities in “proper operating condition” and to carry out their analysis.

Annageldi Yazmyradov reported that the President’s instructions to improve land reclamation and efficiently use water resources have been fulfilled.He also said that the work was underway to restore and reinforce the water facilities in the Amu Darya river, cleanse the mouth of the Karakum river and other drainage systems, set up water reserves and expand the volume of water reservoirs.

Despite regular positive progress reports by government officials, Turkmen residents, including those from the capital, are still negatively affected by the shortage of water.For example, on the day of the meeting, from 8 a.m.

to 7 p.m.there was no water supply in residential districts of Parakhat, the 10th and 11th districts.Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that there was no water supply for three consecutive days in the Ashgabat district of Abadan (formerly, the city of Bezmein).

Public utilities services had neither informed people of the water outage nor reported on the reasons. Consequently, residents could not stock up on water in advance, including for technical needs.

Residents of the capital complain that they often have to repair washing machines.After water is supplied to the machine, the door is blocked.When water supply is restored, dirty water is supplied for some time, which causes the breakdown of the equipment and damages the laundry.
