About 1,7 million people came to Erdogan's election rally

On Sunday, about 1,7 million people took part in the main and most massive rally of the incumbent Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul before the presidential elections, which are scheduled for May 14, reports TASS.

“According to the official data that I received, about 1,7 million people are participating in the rally. If the people of Istanbul say “yes” to the elections, the issue of electing the president can be considered resolved”, - Erdogan said.

The rally in support of the country's leader, organized by the ruling Justice and Development Party headed by him, was held in the National Park, which is located on the territory of the former Ataturk International Airport.

In the elections on May 14, according to the CEC, 64 million citizens of the republic will be able to take part.A total of 191 884 ballot boxes will be installed in Türkiye and beyond.

Four candidates are participating in the presidential elections, Erdogan and Kilicdaroglu are considered the main contenders for the highest state post. 26 parties participate in parliamentary elections.

To win in the first round of the presidential election, it is necessary to get at least 50% of the votes plus one.
