The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has launched a new regional technical assistance project involving Turkmenistan, aimed at expanding digital integration across the Asia-Pacific region.

The initiative, titled “Cross-border Opportunities through Regional Resilience, Infrastructure, Data, and Open Regulation (CORRIDOR),” is designed to enhance digital connectivity, develop cross-border infrastructure, and strengthen the resilience of the digital economy, according to the bank’s report.

The report also states that the initiative aims to expand digital access for 1.5 billion people by 2035 and attract strategic investments worth $20 billion.

Countries participating in the project include Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam.

The program includes the development of broadband internet networks, data centers, and digital public infrastructure. It also focuses on the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions, cybersecurity development, and the harmonization of digital legislation across the region.

According to ADB, the project is expected to promote cross-border digital trade, smart border systems, and digital services, enabling faster data exchange and improving supply chain resilience.

The initiative is scheduled to run from May 2026 to April 2030, with the Digital Sector Office of the ADB serving as the implementing agency.
