Central Asian States Approve Mutual Recognition of Higher Education Degrees

The countries of Central Asia have taken a step toward deepening integration: Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have signed a key agreement on the mutual recognition of higher education diplomas.

This document provides for the direct and unimpeded legitimization of diplomas issued by accredited higher education institutions in the participating countries.

The signed agreement significantly simplifies academic and employment mobility for citizens of the region. Diplomas will now be considered documents directly granting the right to professional activity in any of the participating countries.

Graduates will be able to complete internships and continue their education (for example, in master's or doctoral programs) in their fields in neighboring countries without additional procedures.

The agreement stipulates that recognition will be granted subject to the qualifications being validated meeting the general requirements adopted by the higher education systems of the region. Recognition may be denied only in the event of proven significant differences between the qualification requirements.
