Czech Republic Aims to Increase Its Trade Turnover With Turkmenistan

The Czech Republic plans to increase its mutual trade turnover with Turkmenistan to $10 million in 2021, the Baku-based Trend news agency reported on Monday citing the Czech Foreign Ministry.

From January to December 2020, the export of Turkmenistan to the Czech Republic amounted to $192 thousand. Most of the exported Turkmen products were textile yarn (40.7%) and finished textile products (31%), according to the report.

During the period, Turkmenistan imported $8.5 million worth of Czech products. The main products imported from the Czech Republic are medical instruments (11.9%), various types of beverages (10.8%) and measuring instruments (6.2%).

During an online inter-ministerial consultation on February 19 of this year, Deputy Foreign Ministers of Turkmenistan and the Czech Republic, Vepa Hajiyev and Martin Tlap, considered the possibilities of cooperation on the establishment of transport and transit corridors connecting Asia and Europe.
